Presidency of the United Nations Security Council in Sweden
Sweden took over the term chairman of the one-month United Nations Security Council.

Swedish Foreign Minister Margot Wallstrom announced that his country took over the Presidency of the United Nations Security Council from 1 July to 1 August. Wallstrom explained that his country took over the presidency of the United Nations Security Council at a time when people around the world were in trouble and others had to be protected. Wallstrom stressed that his country gave priority to the rights of women and children and that Yemen, Syria and Myanmar would be among the main agenda items.

The Swedish minister, on the other hand, voiced his country's active diplomacy during the Security Council presidency.
